Whitby Sunset

Whitby sunset came about after I’d seen a photograph someone posted a few days before with the sun above the lantern. I had a brainwave, thinking there could be a chance the sun would pass through the lantern as it set. The following day after work I dashed over to Whitby, had some fish and chips whilst waiting for the sun to set before I trudged up the steps towards the Abbey.
I picked my spot, set the tripod up and it was now a competition between the sun and the ever-present crowds of people walking up the steps. As you can see from the photograph not only had I picked the right spot but was blessed with only a few people at the foot of the steps. A few minutes after this was taken the sun crept behind the clouds and that was that.
